A sunny weekend

This weekend, me & A&J visited Governors' Island. It's an up-to-now off-limits military base right between Manhattan & B'lyn, a sort of hidden diamond in plain sight. It accessible only for a few months in the summer, by a free 7-minute ferry ride next to the Staten Island Ferry. The military has now abandoned the base, and he City and State are slowly developing it into something ... more accessible and beneficial for the whole city. Go while you can, while it'like this ;)

July 1863. The West Ohio Company is on an 'easy assigment' in NYC, away from the battle fields. Little did they know the NYC Draft Riots were upon them!

Here they are practicing with their musket rifles at Fort Jay.

The Poles of the World (Mualiman navat / maailman puolalaiset?) Flushing Meadows, Queens.

At the velodrome. My (street)fixie in the foreground, a pro track fixie in the background. Once you get a good rhythm going, the velo is quite fun and pretty easy!
